SOILS DESCRIPTION <br /> ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> VONA SANDY LOAM, 3 TO 5 PERCENT SLOPES (VoC) . --This soil has a profile <br /> similar to the one described as representative for the series , but it <br /> has a sandy loam surface layer and a thinner subsoil . The hazards of <br /> water erosion and soil blowing are severe. <br /> All of this soil is cultivated and irrigated or being developed <br /> for homesites or light industry. It is well suited to crops , <br /> including alfalfa. and corn for ensilage , and to all adapted sandyland <br /> grasses. Planted pastures grow well if irrigation water is applied , <br /> especially if sprinkler irrigation is used and if a good sad is <br /> maintained. <br /> A large acreage of this soil is in areas •.There industrailization <br /> and home building are encroaching on farmland. This soil has few <br /> limitations for buildings other than soil blowing. It is well suited <br /> to use for housing developments .
