SOILS DESCRIPTIONS <br /> ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> VONA SANDY LOAM, 1 TO 3 PERCENT SLOPES ( Vo8) . --This soil has a profile <br /> similar to that described as representative for the series , but it has <br /> a sandy loam surface layer. The areas are extremely irregular in <br /> shape and range from 30 to 200 acres in size . The hazards of water <br /> erosion and soil blowing are moderate . Included in mapping , on small <br /> ridges and mounds on uplands , are small areas of Vona loamy sand. <br /> Also included , in irrigated areas , are some small areas Dacono loam <br /> near terrace edges. <br /> Much of this soil is or has been cultivated. Some formerly <br /> irrigated areas have been or are being developed for industry and <br /> housing. In general , this soil is suitable for housing projects and <br /> has few limitations for construction. It is •.cell suited for most <br /> irrigated and dryfarmed crops , but it is not so suitable for truck <br /> farming as the nearly level Vona sandy loam. It is an excellent soil <br /> for native grass .
