Water, Waste & land, lnc. Statement of Qualifications
13 O
Sweetwater Mine (Minerals Exploration Company) Rawlins, Wyoming
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. provided site hydrology consultation, consisting of
compilation and interpretation of all site hydrologic data evaluation of ground and surface
water responses to operations, and evaluation of the performance of mine pit dewatering.
This work has included monitoring the recovery of the aquifer since operations were
suspended, such as variations in the direction of flow and the change in aquifer gradient
as the water levels rise. We also investigated a localized mobilization of selenium in
ground water around a barium chloride treatment pond. Of principle concern with respect
to geohydrology was the determination of the extent of seepage and mound building in
the partially saturated zone beneath the barium chloride pond. Of concern with respect
to geochemistry was the relationship of selenium mobility to the presence of oxygenated
water seeping from the pond.
North Lily Project (Anaconda Minerals Company) Eureka, Utah
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. assisted Anaconda in locating, drilling, and testing a
water well for water supply for a tailings heap leach operation near Eureka, Utah. In the
first phase of the project, an exploration well was installed and tested to evaluate a deep,
valley fill aquifer for suitability in terms of productivity and water quality. During the
second phase, a production well with a diameter of eight inches was installed to a depth
of 545 feet with a 100 feet long screened interval was designed and inst>311ed. After
installation, a three day aquifer test was performed to allow the hydraulic ch8racteristics
of the aquifer to be quantified. A step drawdown test was performed over the first day
of the test to allow an optimum pumping rate to be selected. During pumping, water
levels were observed in both the pumped well and an observation well completed in the
exploration borehole.
Bornite Project (Plexus Inc.) Mill City, Oregon
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. assisted Plexus Inc. with baseline surface and
groundwater data collection for a proposed underground copper mine on U.S. Forest
Service land in western Oregon. This work has included design, drilling, development,
and sampling of wells; and planning and sampling of surface water monitoring locations.
The collected data was evaluated by WWL for use in EIS analyses and stiate agency
permits for the project.
Jamestown Mine (Sonora Mining Corporation) Jamestown, California
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. assisted in preparation of the revised EIS for Tuolumne
County associated with expansion of the Jamestown Mine in north-central California. Our
input was in surface and groundwater hydrology and water quality. Water, Waste &
Land, Inc. subsequently assisted Sonora Mining Corporation with groundwater monitoring
guidelines associated with the EIS.
