The area ofClydstone, CO is entirely unsuitable for apost-mining industrial use designation
Industrial tuning does not exist in Sttn Juan County, and any form of industrial designation would
adversely impact the economic di^vclopment of San Juan County through its tourism and
recreational economic base.
2. T7te area needy lu havC reclamation requirements especially in teens of ground cover of the
barren, high exposure hillsides which are composed of mine dumps and highly acidic ground. 'I'hG
area certainly falls under the definition of affected mine fends N the 1976 Mined Lattd i
Reclamation Acl, and it i5 r:Crlainly under the spirit ofthe Mined Land Reclamation Act that a girC~
so heavily affected by mining activity should receive reclamation in terms ofground cover,
grading and water quality issues. Ifthe site is does not receive reclamation in the form ol'ground
cover, we believe this will impact our ability to grow vegetation on our adjoining Herber Placer
parcel directly below the site-
3. Tht barren hillsides arc not Crosion Stably in the longterm, as they are typically approx. a I: I
slope (rather than the gentler slupr. rcyuirod by MI,RO), and may not receive the ongoing
maintenance that the site has received in the past I?om the operating company.
4. We believe that the issues regarding this site are adequately addressed in Amendment A of the
above referenced permit, and a re-visitation of these issues is not in the interest of the people of
Swr Juan County.
For &~ttt Iuan CorpL„/
rTOdd C•s.~~~
