18. I talked to Deputy Fred McKee, who was not the one who did the initial investigation,
and he said that the Delta County sheriff's office had not received any other complaints
about the blast.
19. I talked to Bazbaza at the Terror Creek Loadout. She said she had not heard from anyone
there about anything unusual at the time of the blast. She said two drivers, Kevin Little
and Chris Sickles, were in the shop that day. They weren't there at the time so I said I
would call later.
20. At night, I talked to Doug Frazier and he told me there was a house closer to the mine site
than the Rugh house. I asked Frazier if he could send the Division another fax, but with
only first-hand information.
21. At night, I talked to Bill Carter and asked him to go to the mine site and, also, to talk with
the residents of the house that is located near the Rugh house.
Thursd~..Tuly 24, 1997
22. Bill Carter inspected the blast azea at Bowie No. 2, and also talked with the Martinez's
who live in the house near the Rugh house.
23. I got the second faxed letter from Doug Frazier.
24. At night, I talked to Deputy Allen Scheetz, who did the initial investigation of the blast,
and he said that he didn't see any rocks on Old Highway 133. He said he didn't go to the
Rugh house.
25. At night, I talked to Bob Barnes (970 929-6181), a neighbor who lives about one-quarter
mile to the east of the Rugh house. He said he was outside at the time and heard the blast,
but did not notice any debris. He said he did see his neighbor who was "looking for
someone at the mine site to chew out" because of the rocks on the road and that some
rocks hit the house. He said there were two houses closer to the mine site. Both were
occupied by the Kuretich's. [I later called Mrs. Joseph Kuretich (970 527-5156) but she
said [hey don't live near the Bowie No. 2 mine and the other Kuretich (Martin) no longer
lived there.]
26. At night, 1 called Terry Rugh and got permission from him to use his letter publicly.
27. At night, I talked to Doug Frazier and he said that, on July 18, there were rocks on the
Old highway 133, in front of the Rugh house driveway. He said the rocks were golf-ball
sized and he had to drive around them. He said no one was working in the orchard at the
time of the blast. He said he has three other tenants but two were gone at the time of the
