Mr. Kent Gorham
November 16, 1994
Page 6
Currently this pond is not required to be monitored further until one year prior
to reinitiating development of the Fast Mine. As oompar'ed to current
requirements, no monitaring omissions ooaured during 1993; three additional
water level, flora, and field parameter visits occurred in 1993.
Pond 7-7:
Pond 7-7 overlies an area of the Fist mine inactive since 1983. No retreat
mining has ocan-x~ed in the vicinity of Pond 7-7. A sufficient hydrology database
consisting of flow, water level, field parameter, aryl water quality information
had been established prior to 1993 to define the hydrology at this location.
During 1993, no new mining activities with the potential of creating detectable
impacts occurred in the vicinity of Pord 7-7.
Currently this porn] is not required to be monitored ftnther until one year prior
to reinitiating develc~anent of the Fast Mine. As compared to current
requirements, no monitoring omissions oocw.-re3 during 1993; three additional
water level, flow, and field parameter visits occurred in 1993.
Ponds 12-1, 12-9, 8-4:
Ponds 12-1, 12-9, and 8-4 are all located outside the zone of potential
subsidence impacts under the cnsrenrtly approved mine plan. A sufficient
hydrology database consisting of flow, water level, field parameter, and water
quality information had been established for each of these locations prior to
1993 to define the pre-mining hydrology at these sites. During 1993, no new
mining activities with the potential of creating detectable it~gaacts occurred in
the vicinity of any of these sites.
Currently these ponds are not mrn~ired to be monitored further. 'they have all
been permanently suspended fran the monitoring network. As conq~a~."ed to current
requirements, no monitoring mnisciaJlS o00.7Yred dur]ng 1993.
Porn 12-2:
