The overall objective of the Cash and Who Do Mine Project's reclamation
plan is to return the land surface affected by the mining operations to a
forest environment that is also suitable for wildlife habitation. Thus, the
plan is centered on the reclamation of waste rock piles and associated
areas of disturbance, as well as protection of water quality associated
wfth surtace run-off from the site.
Because of the relatively steep slope gradient and lack of suitable growth
medium present at the site, reclamation activities at all waste rock piles
will focus on leaving existing upland surtace water diversion(s) intact.
This will be done in combination with terracing and overall slope reduction
to mitigate run~on/run-off erosion potential. In addition, selective
revegetation will be introduced to reclaimed terrace areas to facilitate and
enhance natural site revegetation processes. Revegetation test plot(s)
will be constructed and monitored concurrent with mining operations in
order to optimize post-closure n:Gamation success.
Structure removaUdemolition will be largely dependent on an individual
structure's potential for future use. Certain existing structures in and
about the Cash Mine and Who Do Mine areas possess future use
potential, and as such, will remain following the completion of mining and
reclamation activiities. Likewise, certain of the (proposed) new structures
associated with the Mount Royale Mine Area will also remain in place.
Certain other structures (as spedfied below) will be generally subject to
dismantlement/demolition and removal.
(a) Overburden Replacement
The Cash and Who Do Mine Project is an underground mining operation.
Therefore, there has not been nor will there be overburden removal or
replacement associated with the operation.
(b) Reclaimed Slope Gradients
Following termination of mining operations, the face of the Mount Royale
waste rock pile(s) will be terraced or reworked to achieve a minimum 3:1
(horizontal:vertical) slope, or in a manner that is aesthetically consistent
with the immediate surrounding topography.
(c) Site Revegetation
Site revegetation activity at all applicable areas of disturbance will
conform to the approved revegetation plan contained within the Permit M-
83-141 file.
Areas that consist of barren country rods prior to (and after being)
disturbed by mining activity will not be revegetated; however, any
remaining exposed distufiance areas consisting primarily of rock will be
left in a stable configuration.
Exhibit D- Reclamatlai Plan Z
