Mr. Tom Schreiner
RE: Warranty Release Request-PitNo.l
May 12, 2005
3.1.9 Topsoiling
Topsoil was removed and segregated from other soil material during the mining operation. The
topsoil was removed, stockpiled, and then replaced evenly over backfill material during the
concurrent reclamation activities.
• Topsoil was replaced in a short enough time or stored in a manner to-avoid deterioration.
• Woody vegetation was not present within the affected areas prior to excavation.
• Stockpiles were stored and configured to minimize erosion.
• Stockpiles were rehandled as little as possible prior to replacement on disturbed azeas.
• Measures necessary to assure the stability of the replaced topsoil were taken.
• Other materials more suitable for vegetation growth were not Lequired. _~ _ _ _
• Topsoil was placed on the affected areas in as even a manner as possible.
• Vegetative piles were not created during mining operations or reclamation activities.
3.1.10 Revegetation
The pit slopes were revegetated as mining progressed. Currently, the vegetation growth on the
slopes is doing well. The grass is well established and appeazs to be reseeding itself. It appeazs
that initial seeding and additional growth from natural reseeding have produced the necessary
vegetative cover to meet reclamation goals.
3.1.11 Buildings and Structures
No buildings or structures existed on the property prior to mining. Buildings and structures
.remaining on the property aze consistent with the fmal land use of industrial/commercial.
3.1.12 Signs and Markers
Appropriate signs and markers were placed at the site during mine operations. With one
exception, all signs and mazkers have now been removed. The sign is at the entrance to the site
and includes the operator name and permit number. This sign will be removed when the entire
property is released~r'om.reclamation responsibility. _ _.. _ -
As the agent for Bestway Paving, we are satisfied that the reclamation requirements of the permit
listed above were met in accordance with Rule 3 of the Reclamation Performance Standazds.
Should you have any questions or require additional information, please give us a call.
Sincerely,
A`pp/le u ~ _
Wtlham Schenderlein, P.E.
Project Engineer
cc: Gary Hill, Bestway Paving.
Weld County Commissioners, via certified mail
AG File #OS-103
