There was some evidence that runoff had left the Roadside mine untreated. The
operator should place temporary erosion control near the guard shack until the sediment
control system recently approved is installed.
7. A large section of rock overhang fell into Coal Creek below the refuse pile sediment
pond and is blocking a portion of the channel. The rest of the channel is blocked by
smaller material. This material should be removed so backed up water does not damage
the sediment pond.
8. The berm on the west side of the Roadside parking lot had breached in one place.
This must be repaired.
9. The operator should diligently proceed with construction o~ the sediment control
structures following the recently approved plan. The operator should submit a tentative
schedule to complete each portion of the sediment control plan.
4.10 and 4.11 Coal Processing Waste
The rock underdrains at the Cameo refuse pile appeared to be functioning properly.
Water was seeping from the south underdrain.
The Roadside pile was inspected. No problems were noted.
4.15 Revegetation
The topsoil stockpiles, the north side of the loadout stacker pad and the south side of
the Cameo mine bench have been reseeded. Those areas where equipment could operate
were drilled and steep areas were broadcast seeded. Several areas were observed to
have seedlings emerging.
