making short visits to the site. Upon reclamation, all portable equipment will be removed from the
site.
There will be no new fence aoound the operation, since it already has a fence in most areas. This
fence will not be disturbed by the operation. No problems are expected with vandalism. It is
extremely unlikely that any toxic or acid-producing materials will be encountered during the mining
operation since the past mining shows that the material is alluvial in nature. However, in the event
that such materials aze encountered, they will be covered with subsoil and topsoil from the
stockpiles to the same depths outlined in the reclamation plan and no more mining will occur in this
azea.
The operator commits to cleazly marking the permit boundary with stakes surveyed on site.
The site will use all existing roads to haul the product to its final destination. It is planned that the
material maybe used to re-surface existing roads, make concrete aggregate or provide new road
base for any new roads within an economic distance to the site.
If any "reportable quantity" of hazazdous material or waste is released into the environment, the
operator will notify staff of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety as well as all
other appropriate local, state and federal agencies.
9. Hydrology and Sediment Control for Minine
All disturbance around the excavation area will drain to the pit, which is more than adequate to
handle the inflow from a 100 yeaz event. The pit will have a pump to handle the pit inflows below
water table, which aze expected to be approximately 2500 gallons per minute. The pump will have a
gravel berm aoound its perimeter to filter sediment. The water will enter a settling pond, as shown
on Map C-2, which will further reduce sediment. The outlet of the pond is an earthen ditch, which
will carry the water to the River. This ditch will be 3 feet wide, 2H:1 V sideslopes, and lined with rip
rap of 8" to 12" size if erosion is seen in the ditch. The azea aoound the augmentation pond will
drain to this pond. Due to the two ponds, no collection and diversion ditches aze needed on site.
North R-34 Pit 1/01
