6. Processing and Material Stockpiling
Initially, the material will be excavated, placed into temporary stockpiles and allowed to
drain, and then transported as pit run material to the company's plant for further processing.
However, processing equipment could later be located on site. Such equipment would include, but
not be limited to, portable crushing and screening equipment, and portable scales. The processing
facilities may move along the pit floor as necessary to accommodate the operations. Material
stockpiles created on site will occur close to the excavation to permit drainage, in and azound the
processing area, and at other locations within the permit azea as necessary.
7. Topsoil Stockpile
The topsoil stockpile will store the topsoil from Phase 1 and other necessary disturbance around the
excavation azea. As stated eazlier, the expected average stripping thickness is 7 inches. The
stockpile will be placed at a slope of 3H:1 V and will have small 1' berms around the perimeter to
prevent erosion. Since this stockpile will be present until the end of the life of the pit, it will be
seeded and mulched with a temporary mix as soon as it is constructed.
8 . Fuel Containment and Site Facilities
No fuel tanks will be stored on site, since they already exist at the processing facilities on the other
side of the river. Any portable plants brought to the site will have their own fuel tanks with
secondary containment built into the plant. Any portable plant will maintain its own air emissions
permit and SPCC plan for the equipment.
The site will have no truck scale, no office trailers, no outdoor lighting and no other structures. Port-
potties will be used for employees. No night activity is scheduled for the operation. All structures
on site are shown on Map C-2. There will be no fuel storage tanks or fuel farm on the site other
than the tanks that aze part of the portable plants. The portable mining equipment such as loaders,
dozers, trucks and excavators will be serviced on an as-needed basis from portable service truck
North R-34 Pit 1/07
