Methods and rates of reseeding during reclamation are as follows:
In consultation with area seed and soil experts, the mining phases
will be seeded with a dryland mix as follows:
0
Western V1lheat brass-119%
Hycrest Crested Wheatgrass 15%
Smooth Brome 25%
Pubescent Wheatgrass 25%
Orchardgrass (Paiute) 20%
Russian Wildrye 10%
Annual Rye 5%
The recommended rate of seeding for the above is 12 - 15 lbs./
acre utilizing the drilled placement method.
The seed types listed above are currently available locally in sufficient
quantities to meet the proposed reclamation. Seeding will be done at
appropriate seasonal periods as recommended by area experts.
(d) Reclamation Implementation Schedule:
(i) It is estimated that reclamation for each ten -twenty acre
section within the phases will require a period of six to nine
months following the cessation of mining. This is based on two
to three months of overburden and topsoil replacement
earthwork and allowance for seasonal seed placement
opportunities.
(ii) As mentioned above, reclamation will progress in sections not to
exceed twenty acres within any given phase of operation.
(iii) The proposed sequence of reclamation stages is consistent
throughout all phases.
1. Replacement of overburden -rough grading
2. Replacement of topsoil (where applicable)
3. Final grading
4. Seeding
(e)
(i) Final grading of the mining area will be completed such that
no reclaimed slope will exceed 3:1. It is anticipated that
pre-mining slopes in excess of 3:1 wherein no mining occurs
will remain at their natural gradient.
