Highway 112
Del Norte, CO 81132
Re: Crites Sand and G avel Pit, Permit M-1999-022, Acreage Reduction (AR-O1) Approved.
Dear Mr. Crites,
Bill Owens
Governor
Greg E. Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Acting Division Director
I have approved the acreage reduction request noted above, which releases 2 acres from your existing permitted
area. The specific area released in this action is best defined as the area shown on the permit maps as "Phase 3" of
the Gravel Pit excavation area, located northwest of the stockpile and processing area. The area released measures
217 feet by 400 feet. The area remaining in your permit now consists of the other two phases (1 and 2) of the
excavation area, measuring 434 feet by 400 feet (combined), and the recharge pit with adjoining stockpile and
processing area.
This acreage reduction was described by you as the first part of an intended "land exchange" in which you wished
to reconfigure the permit boundary, with no resulting change to the net permit acreage. An addition of up to two
acres may be approved now, and the permit will remain as a 110 permit. The request for the addition of land must
be submitted by you, in the form of a technical revision (TR). The TR must include revised materials showing all
changes to the existing permit, plus the TR fee which is $188.
Examples of materials which will be revised by this upcoming TR are:
Exhibit A -Legal Description (metes and bounds description of entire permit boundary, excluding
recently-released 2-acre area, and including new 2-acre azea);
Exhibit C -Mining Plan (describing activities to occur on the new 2-acre azea);
Exhibit D -Reclamation Plan (applicable only if there are any changes);
Exhibit E -Maps (showing new boundaries and areas of activities).
I have enclosed for your use a copy of portions of your original permit maps, showing the permitted acreage. I
highlighted the azea released in the now-approved acreage reduction AR-O1, as well as the remaining areas. The
sheet showing the recharge pit and stockpile/processing area should be used by you to depict the area proposed to
be added in the technical revision, which may be up to 2 acres.
Please prepare the revised materials in duplicate, attach the fee, and send the packet either to Ms. Suzi Ericksen at
the Division's Denver office (see letterhead) or to me at the Division's Durango office (address below). Ms.
Ericksen will initially review your submittal to ensure that it is complete. If certain documentation is lacking you
