.rai 7c --' ~Y ~ iW ~ .
rw
i~
,~a.
December I9, 1980
Mr. Craig Sherwood
Snowmass Coal Company
P. O. Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Dear Craig:
David C. Shelton
Director
Enclosed you will find a notice that the time for abatement of violation
number 80-43 Iras been extended to December 24, 1980. As discussed in our
December 19, 1480 phone conversation, it was agreed that a time for abatement
could be extended since a written letter of request was already in the
mail.
I would also like to point out the conditions you will be required to meet in
order to restart work on the island. iae will require a plan, in writing,
stating the fol.iowing:
1. That no crossing of the Roaring Fork by any motorized vehicle or equipment
will occur until the Division approves plans for a stream crossing;
2. The plan shall include a design of the access road which includes the
length, width, size acrd number of culverts used, and the type of rock that
will be used for construction of the road;
3. The time table of disturbance on the island;
9. A map of the island and adjacent areas that shows the maximum area of
disturbance by the crane or other equipment;
5. A stipulation that buffer marker signs wi21 be placed on the island to
indicate the maximum area in which equipment may disturb. These markers must
be placed no closer than 10 feet from the Roaring Fork river to minimize the
area affected and they must be delineated in a submitted rrup;
6. A plan to restore any vegetation that is disturbed on the island and adjacent
area by Snowmass;
7. A stipulation that Craig Sherwood will be on site during the conveyor
construction on the island to insure that no part of the approved plan is
changed, deviated from, or ignored;
8. That the Division w.i11 be notified in writing one week prior to any disturbance
on the island so that our staff can be on site when the disturbance is done.
r~r Yllnl VI. m
• 'ilAl 1.
