X2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOP. SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MININC, -- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• FOR OPERATION ANO RECLAMATION PLANS.
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan contd.
(2)(a)cont'd.
the rock fill outslopes would take approximately one
month. Revegetation, including broadcast or hydroseed-
ing, fertilizing and mulching would require an addi-
tional month. Excessive soil moisture and snow cover
would affect the timing of reclamation. Wet soils
could not he evenly distributed and seeding has proven
to be unsuccessful on tap of snow.
(2)(h) Cost estimates and supporting calculations for reclama-
tion of the rock slope entries are attached.
(2)(c) CWI requested and received a variance from approximate
original contour restoration requirements in the exist-
ing approved permit for the Orchard Valley P1ine, in-
cluding the areas of the proposed portals and fills, to
enhance the post-mining land use of rangeland. The
benched areas and access road system would provide
yreater economic opportunities from improved grazing
and public access.
• No significant change in the final reclaimed confiyura-
tion of the Orchard Valley Mine is proposed, though
backfilling of the existing portal and parking lot lev-
els to the approved configuration would be completed
during construction of tl,e proposed rock slope portals
and entries. A drainaye ditch on the parking lot fill
would he relocated to drain to the east end of the fill
rather than over the fill outslope to the crushing and
screening level helow. Refer to the Golder Associates
designs.
(2)(d) No change in the topsoil handling plan is proposed.
Soils which may he disturbed by construction of the
rock slope portals, facilities and rock fills would be
removed and stored as generally described in Section
2.05.4(2)(d) of the existing approved permit and Sec-
tions 2.04.9(1)(a)-(2) and 2.05.3(5) of this technical
revision application.
(2)(e) Soils which may he available for recovery from the
areas of the portals and fills prior to disturbance or
the best available material would be placed on the fill
outslopes, then the areas would he seeded, fertilized
and mulched as described in Section 2.05.4(2)(e) of the
existing approved permit. Where asphalt is present and
• the depth of the fill would be less than four feet, the
asphalt would he removed prior to backfilling to allow
sufficient depth for plant root development.
10
