177,05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR IINOERf,ROIINO MINING -- MINIMUM P,EOUIREMENTS
FOR OPERATION.ANO RECLAMATION PLANS.
•
2.05.3 Operation Plan - Permit Area cont'd,
(2)(b)cont'd.
CFR Part 75.1711-1 of the Mine Safety and Health Admin-
istration regulations, which had been partially back-
filled to extinguish the mine fire. As the shafts
would he filled, a concrete cap and vent pipe proposed
in the existing permit would not be required. The ex-
isting portal level access road would be cut approxi-
mately four feet for a length of approximately 160 feet
near the proposed intake portal and Cut approximately
five feet for a length of approximately 140 feet near
the proposed return portal, allowing room for traffic
at the new portals. A rock fill would he constructed
on the existing portal and parking lot levels backfill-
ing the cut slopes per existing approved final configu-
ration designs.
Refer to the Golder Associates designs for specific in-
formation regardiny the rock tunnels portals, cuts and
fills construction.
(3)(a) Little change in the surface facilities of the Orchard
• Valley Mine would he required for the rock tunnels por-
tals. Because the location of the belt portal would be
different, the belt structure to Transfer Tower #1
(TT#1) and the TT#1 itself would he altered for the new
helt alignment (see Map BA-14, attached). The rock
dust system located near the existing belt portal would
he relocated near TT#1 (see Map SA-13, attached). A
magnesium chloride tank which had been located next to
the existing intake portal may also he relocated near
TT#1. The motor control center (MCC) building would
not he affected by the rock fill, but would probably be
removed and relocated. Powerlines and waterlines would
be rerouted as required. Removal and reclamation of
these facilities would remain unchanged from the exist-
ing approved reclamation plan,
(3)(b) - (3)(b)(ii)(C)
No change.
(3)(c) The existing portal level access road would be cut near
the proposed intake and return portals to allow room
for traffic at the new portals. Refer to the Golder
Associates designs for the road modification designs.
No other road construction would be required,
. The oiftside conveyor belt structures would he modified
to accommodate the new belt portal location (see Map
8
