The notes do not indicate the surveyor calculated an elevation for PT A from the raw data.
Further review of the data in the subsidence file indicate subsidence survey information for a
control point "A"listed under the heading East Panel Subsidence Markers. Control Points. The
data listed for this point for August 1994 is as follows.
Point Date Northin Eastin Elevation
A Au ust 1994 ]696.21 -95235.88 7116.72
Review of Map 17, Subsidence Points, received October 6, 1995, indicates the point labeled "A"
is slightly west of the 3rd North mains, some 7500 feet east-southeast from the First North
workings. This map clearly and accurately depicts a point "A" at the northing and Basting
coordinates listed. Note that the elevation listed for the Terry Survey conducted January 8, 2001
for PT A is also 71 16.72, identical to the August 1994 elevation. I believe that this is the point
that is being referenced by Mr. Terry when he states under the 1/8/2001 footnote "PT A was used
as the benchmark (E1r71 16.72)". However, without a map or sketch from the January 8, 2001
survey, it is not clear where a~ of the points are located. Although it can probably be accurately
assumed, I believe this situation warrants accuracy and elimination of any confusion, speculation,
or ambiguity. In addition to the survey data, a map or sketch clearly rndreatirrg the location of
the four panrts included in the Terry survey is necessary.
CC: Walton Morris, attorney
S[eve Brown, AG office
