include a schedule for implementation. Following approval of his
technical revision, BMG shall implement the treatment method i
accordance with the plan. Appropriate frequency and distribution of
monitoring of the tailings and plant circuit shall be proposed within the
application and subsequently conducted to verify the progress ~nd success
of the remedial treatment. Monitoring results, covered by an appropriate
cover letter report shall be submitted to the Division weekly wring the
detoxification program.
While BMG is continuing the CYTOX treatment, it will be permit~ed to
continue operating the processing plant, including the introdu tion of
unprocessed ore, until the projected tailings quality has been achieved.
At that point in time BMG will cease operation of the plant pe~ding
approval to recommence operation by the Division. Monitoring f cyanide
levels within the tailings slurry and liquid shall continue to (verify the
anticipated decay of Free Cyanide levels following the cessation of the
detoxification program, until cessation is approved by the Division.
The introduction of chemical compounds into the processing circ it to
affect an immediate remedy of the tailings cyanide problem cowl
potentially create additional problems by amending the chemical
constituency of the tailings. The Division cautions BMG that i~t will be
held responsible for any unanticipated results of its remedial Actions.

- BMG submitted T.R. Application on April 3, 1992.
- Division approved TR-004 on April 7, 1992 ith
three stipulations. Stipulation #3, requi ing two
additional monitoring points, has been satisfied.
MLRB Amendment: The Division shall report tailings treatment progress
to the Board during their May 27-28 and June 24-25, 1992 ~eetings.
Tailings CYTOX detoxification approved under Technical Re ision
TR-004 shall cease June 24, 1992.
av Proaress• - BMG continued CYTOX treatment, in accordance with
TR-004 throughout the month of May.
- BMG submitted TR-005, to cease operation o~ the
A.V.R. unit, following failure of the air parging
fan unit on April 29, 1992. The Division pproved
TR-005 on May 1, 1992.
- In partial response to Stipulation #1 on T -004, BMG
submitted plant and pond cyanide monitorin results
and technical discussion of the data to de onstrate
reduction in Free Cyanide levels from 184-188 ppm
to 32-34 ppm in the ponds, as of May 11, 1 92, on
May 26, 1992. The Division will complete eview and
comment ASAP. Copies will provided to the Parties
for comment.
