Towards the southern part of the lake the soils become wetter and support a stand of Tall
wheatgrass. The perimeter of the fake is covered in cattails with a few Russian olives, Willows
and mature Cottonwoods. There are two areas that have been planted to trees that are under a
drip irrigation system, one on the west side of the lake and another on the south. These trees
include Blue spruce, Ponderosa pine and Maples. The spruce on the south side does not
appear healthy, likely from the high water table in the area.
SOIL INTERPRETATIONS:
The soils found on the site are as follows:
Lw -Loamy alluvial land,
Tc -Terrace escarpment:
VoA -Vona sandy loam,
Wt -Wet alluvial land
moderately wet
0 to 1 percent slopes
A complete description of these soils can be found in the 'Soil Survey of Adams County,
Colorado'. A soil map with soils descriptions is included with this report.
RECLAMATION PLAN:
PLANNED POST MINING LAND USES: Wetlands, open space and/or residential estates
NOXIOUS WEEDS: Inspecting the site during the winter months is not the most favorable lime for
identifying weed problems. I identified residues that could be Field bindweed and one or more
species of knapweed. Field bindweed and many knapweed species are considered noxious
weeds in Colorado. We recommend that the applicant develop a weed management plan with
Adams County Cooperative Extension to ensure that noxious weeds on the property will be
controlled in a timely manner.
The Natural ReSOUrceS Conservation Service provitles leadership in a partnership effort to help people
conserve, maintain, and improve our natural resources and environment.
