within the distance prohibitions required for any of the above.
Cemeteries: No cemeteries were identified within the mining area.
Protected public lands: The underground mining will progress up
to the boundary of Federal, State and Local government land but
will not mine under any of these lands except land belonging to
the city of Florence.
SUBSIDENCE: A subsidence monitoring plan was prepared for Dorchester Coal
Company by Rocky Mountain Geotechnical in 1983. That plan is
still being used by Energy Fuels.
Subsidence monuments were found to be in place. The
monitoring points have been marked with wooden lathe and
consist of steel rebar set in concrete. The houses which are
being monitored at Thompson Ranch have had an "x" chiseled
on the concrete porches as a monitoring point. Very little
evidence of subsidence shows on the surface. The exception to
that is a small crack located at monument 15.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES
Active pits: This is an underground operation with no surface
mining being done.
Seams being mined: Two seams are being mined. These are the Red
Arrow and the Jack O'Lantern.
Highwall existing: The only highwall will be at the mine portals.
Acres disturbed: There is a total of 105 acres of surface
disturbance. The total permitted acreage for the mine is
2,821.6.
EXISTING ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS:
There were no outstanding enforcement actions on this mine at the
time of the inspection.
