Box 17304
Boulder, Colorado 80308-0304
Re: Gold Hill Mill, File No. M-83-141 - Partial Transcript from
the January 25, 1995 Mined Land Reclamation Board Hearing
Dear Mr. Hartley:
On January 25, 1995 the Mined Land Reclamation Board issued Notice
of Violation and Board Order No. M-95-001 to COM, Inc. and Mi Vida
Enterprises, Inc. The Division is herein including a partial
transcript of that hearing essentially for the benefit of all of
those who own or have an interest in COM, Ina. and Mi Vida
Enterprises, Inc. It is hoped that the essence of the Board's
concern about the Gold Hill Mill site, Permit No. M-83-141, is
communicated with this partial transcript. If anyone is interested
in a full transcript of the meeting, please contact Kim Harvill
with the Division. The partial transcript that follows are
comments made by various Board members during the hearing.
"...and the history of this, if my memory is correct....almost
every problem we've had with this permit has in some manner dealt
with the infighting between the two parties in this organization.
The Division and Board have kind of ended up in the middle and have
spent an awful lot of time because there is disagreement on the
part of the two people that hold the permit. As a matter of fact,
we've had some discussion about not giving a permit to two people
anymore just based upon this specific case..."
"...this has been a very long running thing. We would like nothing
better than to not see you all back here again... ....one of the
concerns I have is I think that the track record up to date has
caused enormous damage to the credibility of the legimate mining
industry. ...that we have a community up there that has every time
it turns around had its worst suspicions realized or just simply
been dealt with in this kind of way, people disappearing and not
