2
5
6
7
BMG in-house and contract laboratory analyses of tailings pond
water and collection pond water for WAD and total c+~anide
concentrations show compliance with the permit on the approved
monthly average basis.
BMG continues to treat the collection pond with hydYOgen peroxide
to maintain compliance levels of WAD and total cyanide.
The Division received the first third party monitoring report on
January 27, 1993. The third party sampling contractor is
correcting the report to satisfy the terms of the MOU between the
Division and BMG. The third party contractor will Sample again
in March ,1993. Analyses of the third party's samples confirmed
BMG's analyses for WAD cyanide, total cyanide and copper. The
Division, BMG and the third party contractor met February 19,
1993 to discuss the terms of the MOU and agreed to certain
changes that will more accurately reflect the intent of the MOU.
Leak Detection System Effluent Containment:
Status: Satisfied. BMG committed to repair the primary liner if
a leak is detected.
Cyanide Detection. Interception, Containment and Remedial
Treatment•
Status: Review of Technical Revision No. 8. (Additional Ground
Water Monitoring Wells) is in progress. The Surface water and
Ground Water Containment Plan (TR-09)has been approved by the
Division.
Progress: BMG submitted a response to DMG's second review
comments. The Division has completed a preliminary review of the
response and the final review is in progress.
Modification of Ore Processing Methodologv:
Status: No change from December 1992 report. BMG Submitted a
writter. commit:~ent to comply May 16, 1992. BbiG has not indicated
a necessity to modify its ore processing methodology.
8. Modification of Tailings Area Reclamation Plan:
Status: BMG is complying with this abatement item.
Progress: BMG reported February 19, 1993 that an investigation
has been started to enable characterization of the tailings. The
investigation includes tailings sampling and analyses of
leachate. A requirement for an amendment to the tailings area
detoxification and reclamation plan may be indicated by the
results of the investigation. If the Division determines that an
amendment is necessary, it must be submitted by May 13, 1993.
{This date is a correction to the December 9, 1992 report).
