EXHIBIT E -RECLAMATION PLAN
EXISTING PLAN
The existing plan was submitted as an amendment application in August of 1998
and was approved on February 23, 1999. The existing plan included reclamation
to three lakes approximately 5 acres, 3 acres and 1 acre in size and reclamation
of the remaining area to agriculture, pasture and residential.
PROPOSED RECLAMATION PLAN SUMMARY
The new proposed plan includes reclamation that will leave three lakes - 14
acres, 3 acres and 4 acres. The 4 acre lake will be lined with clay and used to
store augmentation water. The other two lakes will be groundwater fed and un-
lined.
GRADING
The Challenger pit is currently mined out and close to being at final grade. The
final reclamation will consist of three separate ponds - 14 acres, 3 acres and 4
acres in size. The 14 acre and 3 acre pond slopes will be graded to 3H:1 V or
less. The 4 acre pond will be graded at 2H:1 V. The pond water surface
elevations are expected to be close to 4782 ft with seasonal variations.
TOPSOIL REPLACEMENT
Topsoil replacement will occur to depth of 6 inches over the 16 acres shown in
EXHIBIT D -RECLAMATION MAP. The volume of topsoil to be replaced is
approximately 13,000 yd3. A topsoil stockpile of approximately 13,000 yd3 is
currently on site.
RE-VEGETATION
Seeding and Fertilizing
Approximately 16 acres of the permit area is currently devoid of vegetation and
will be re-seeded. The recommended seeding method is by drill and seeding
rates assume this method. The species composition of the seed mixture
recommended for reclamation is shown in Table 2 below.
Table 2
Species (Variety) Rate -pure live Native/ W/C Cost
seed (pls) Introduced Seaso p/s/ac
Ibs/ac n ?
Thicksoike wheatorass 8.0 to 10.0 Native Cool $11.70 ;
(Critana)
Sideoats grams (Vaughn)
Switchgrass (Nebraska-28)
Alfalfa (Nomad)
TOTAL
5.0 to 7.0 Native Warm $7.25
4.0 to 6.0 Native Warm $5.00
3.0 to 5.0 Introduced NA $1.90
20.0 to 28.0 $28.8
Challenger Pit
DMG l12 TR-1
