Henderson Mine Permit #77-342
Technical Revision 4/4/88
Page 3
northeast of the number one tailing dam (Figure 1). Soil was to
have been pushed up and hauled to two designated soil stockpile
areas in five-year increments. This would have necessitated moving
800,000 cubic yards of soil by the end of 1990. In addition, an
interceptor canal was to have been constructed during final
reclamation to divert runoff water around the reclaimed tailing
area.
Proposed Soil Stockpile Plan
The soil stockpile schedule assumes an average production rate of
18-million pounds of molybdenum in concentrates per year, through
the year 2020. As outlined in Table 1, this production value
projects the estimated tailing pond elevation and acreage and the
quantity of soil required to cover the tailing by five-year
intervals throughout the life of the mine. A total of 470,000 cubic
yards of soil have been stockpiled through 1987.
We would clear land to the new tailing-pond disturbance limits and
construct a perimeter access road and interceptor ditch above the
disturbance limits (Figure 2). Instead of placing the soil in the
two designated stockpile areas as now described, we propose a soil
berm at the 8,840 contour extending from the west branch of Ute
Creek to the main stem of Ute Creek. We plan to use existing
equipment to doze available and suitable material within 300 feet
downgradient of the road into a soil berm along the new perimeter
road. The schedule for accommodating this new soil stockpile
configuration and method would be as follows:
ok ->1988 Clear timber in the tailing basin
e.aw.~w~.u1 1989 Survey and construct pioneer perimeter road
w+- iL' mp+a. 1990 Improve pioneer perimeter road
1991 Push soil into berm
1992 Push soil into berm
Thereafter soil stockpiling will follow the schedule outlined in
Table 1.
We request that the board approve this technical revision to our plan. Please
\ contact us if you require clarification on any of the items discussed.
~y ' r1A~ `c+~a.~ r1E''i tAUol. ~rstlrtw~J ? Sincerely,
~~~
CLJ/sp Charles L.
