Requirement: Pi[ slopes in Phase 1 will be left in a near vertical condition because Phase 1
will be backtilled. (See Page 31)
Requirement: Pit slopes inside the groundwater barrier wall in Phase 2 will be mined to a
grade not steeper than 3:1. If a steel wall rather than a slurry wall is installed and fill is
available that will not adversely affect the reclamation of Phase 1, then constructing part or
all of the elopes with backfill is acceptable. However, under no circumstances may the steel
wall itself be exposed directly by mining or through sloughing of the mined face.
(See Page 31)
Requirement: In the initial mining area of Phase 2 (northeast corner) the south slope
adjacent to the groundwater barrier wall will be mined to a grade no[ steeper than 3:1. The
other three slopes can be steeper. (See Page 3l)
Requirement: Gradual backfilling of the initial mining area in Phase 2 will use a mixture of
solidified waste concrete and overburden. (See Page 31)
Requirement: Discharge from the initial mining area in Phase 2 will be either into Phase 1 or
into the adjacent drainage. If discharge is into the adjacent drainage, appropriate
structures to control flow and sediment may be needed to maintain compliance with [he
NPDES permit. (See Page 34)
Requirement: All discharges from the initial mining area for Phase 2 that do not pass
through the sediment control system for Phase 1 must be kept in compliance with the
NPDES permit. (No discussion associated with this requirement)
Requirement: Mining of the remainder of Phase 2 will generally proceed from west to east
and north to south. The southern side of the pit will not be mined within 300 feet of the
river until any streambank stabilization actions taken on the current river bank have
developed to a point where they can protect the bank from undercutting. (No discussion
associated with this requirement)
Pueblo East Pit Amendment 3 (2007) Exhibit D Page 7 of 34
