Exhibit Page 31 <br />Unit 102 <br />Name Ricot Loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes <br />Description The Ricot soil is very deep and well drained on uplands, hillsides, and <br />mesa tops. Typically the surface layer is loam about 8 inches thick. The <br />upper part of the subsoil is loam about 4 inches thick. The next 4 inches <br />of the subsoil is clay loam with a thin stone line of gravel and cobble in <br />the lower part. The lower 22 inches is day. The substratum to a depth of <br />60 inches is stony day loam. Permeability is slow. Available water <br />capacity is high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Run off is <br />slow, and the hazard of water erosion is slight. <br />Unit 119 <br />Name Sheek-Archuleta complex, 6 to 25 percent slopes, very stony <br />Description This unit is 50 percent Sheek very stony sandy loam on foots lopes of <br />hillsides, and 35 percent Archuleta very stony sandy loam on shoulders <br />and hillsides. <br />The Sheek soil is very deep and well drained on foot slopes of hillsides. <br />Typically, the surface is covered with a mat of intermediately <br />decomposed leaves, twigs, and needles 1 inch thick. The subsurface <br />layer is very stony sandy loam about 4 inches thick with about 10 <br />percent stones on the surface. The subsoil to a depth of 60 inches is <br />very stony clay loam. Permeability is moderately slow. Available water <br />capacity is moderate. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br />Runoff is medium to rapid ,and the hazard of water erosion is moderate <br />to severe. <br />The Archuleta soil is shallow and well drained on shoulders and <br />hillsides. Typically, the surface is covered with a mat of slightly <br />decomposed leaves and twigs 1 inch thick. The surface layer is very <br />stony sandy loam 5 inches thick with about 10 percent stones on the <br />surface. The lower part of the surface layer is stony sandy loam 3 <br />inches thick.- The substratum to a depth of 17 inches is stony clay loam. <br />Interbedded coal and shale is at a depth of 17 inches. Permeability is <br />moderately slow. Available water capacity is very low. Effective rooting <br />depth is 10 to 20 inches. Runoff is medium to rapid, and the hazard of <br />water erosion is moderate to severe. Depth to soft bedrock ranges from <br />10 to 20 inches. <br />
