RE: Request for NOV Abatement Date Extension
New Elk Mine Permit No. C-81-012
Dear Mr. Dudash:
Due to the large quantity of remedial work required by the
NOV's issued during the April 5 through 9 and April 12 through 16
inspections, a contractor has been retained and has been working
seven days per week. Therefore Basin Resources, Inc. (BRI)
requests - an abatement time extension from June it to July 8 for
certain NOV's and to July 15 for certain others. Following is a
listing of those NOV's:
For July 8 Abatement:
C-93-034 Final additions and . line clearing is underway.
C-93-035 Most work on cleaning culverts and drop inlet No.
.2 has been completed. A section of culvert has been ordered to
close the open inlet center of C5. Work on cleaning remaining
culverts and attempting to locate the outlet of. the "fireplug"
culvert and open the D26 to river culvert is underway.
C-93-036 All upland diversion ditches have been cleaned,
reshaped and increased in cross section to design. Most other
listed ditches have been reworked or newly cut. Remaining work
is in progress.
C-93-038 Revisions have been submitted to remove culverts
no longer required or in service. Culvert C40 has been installed
and C13 will be removed.
C-93-039 A culvert has been installed in Dll. Coal
spillage east of the silos - has been cleaned. Spilled oil and
contaminated soil have been placed in drums. Samples have been
submitted to the processor for evaluation and directions to BRI
for shipping. Cleaning of the windblown coal is in progress.
