Mr. Michael Long
May 16, 1995
Page 2
Division of Minerals and Geology inspection comments
The following are comments about the B pit, i.e. northwest A pit, from the backfilling and
grading sections of inspection reports:
Inspection date Inspector Comments
9-7-94 SLB no problems noted
9-1494 ESC no problems noted
10-28-94 SLB Reclamation operations were nearly complctc on the northwestern
portion of the A pit. The final highwall had bccn blasted, graded, and
covered with topsoil....The reclaimed topography appcarcd to be in
compliance with approved post mine contours and blcndcd well with
existing slopes.
11-8-94 ESC Northwest portion of the A pit appears to be complete and blends in
well with the existing topography.
t-4-95 SLB Final grading was complete on the upper 1/3 of the pit.
3-31-95 DTM meastued final drainage--no specific enforcement actions
6.21-95 WHE backfilled area settled.. section 006-NEI appears as a gully 24 to 36
inches deep and needs maintenance.
9-1495 LPR ...it appears impacts to undisturbed areas could be minimized by
continuing to direct runoff down the road ditch and down the rock
lined channel on the reclaimed B pit.
9-27-95 SLB ...one other item of concern is the constmcted channel which runs
roughly parallel to the reclaimed highwall....the operator should look
into this discrepancy, and inform the division...
NOV issued 10-16-95
10-19-95 ESC ...no erosion features were noted in this backfi0ed area.
