The operation
will progress onto Federal coal at some future time. The permit
area is in SE 1/4, NE 1/4, Section 30, T8S, R101W. The mine plan,
permits, maps, and plan amendments were available for review at
the Grand Junction office.
In May 1980, a Technical Revision (TR) was submitted to the State
Mined Land Reclamation Division (MLRD) addressing a two acre expansion
of the coal stockpile area. The expansion will be used for stockpiling
and loading coal from the Fruita #2 Mine.
The expansion is within the permit area, but was done prior to
approval of a change in the mine plan by the MLR Divsion. A violation
was issued by the State, and the TR is still under review.
A rail siding has been applied for in Grand Junction. There has
been no groundwork done by Dorchester Colornine Coal Company at the site.
717.12 Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign was posted. The State mining permit
number was missing from the sign. Mr. Barbe said the permit number
would be added by the end of the day.
717.14 Backfilling and Grading
The old Farmer's Portal has been reclaimed in the process of building
the stockpile expansion. Grading is complete and seeding will take
place this fall.
