2. In accordance with CDPS discharge permit CO-0027146, Nalco 9851 Coagulant is being
used to clear up the water in the mine water sediment pond and the underground sumps.
Nalco 9806 Flocculent may also be utilized to clear up the water.
The above steps should clear up some water for discharge in a few days. However, the ponds and
sumps are still full of water that is marginally suitable for discharge. Until PCC is able to get
some clean water to discharge, it may have some additional non-compliant discharge.
Recent analysis performed by CT&E, Denver office, of discharge from outfall 004 report the
following TSS values:
Date TSS
8!09/99 31 mg/I
08/13/99 71 mg/I This was the twin sample, DMG's results 164 mg/I.
08/16/99 69 mg/I
Since PCC has taken decisive action to ensure compliance with TSS standards, please consider
extending the abatement deadline for the NOV until August 30, 1999.
Sincerely,
~~`~~~ ~
Ralph Salaz
Mine Foreman
