Tha filtrate, as a result, is turbid. Also the amount of
filter loading eff a~cta the rweult. The grantor the sample amount
taken, tho greater tho measured suspended solids concentration. When
tieing a small amount of sample, mot9t of the material just under the
filtt•r pore wise passes right through. A larger sample provides
onough nntari al to partially clog the filter and then cause it to
cnpturo mare of tho undersize parti clan. The normal procedures uved
in "6tandard Methods for the Examination of Wat ar and Wastewater,"
and the EPR Manual do nat specify that the filtrate should by free of
tur6idity• nor do they specify the sample siae to be used. This is
normally not a problem, but can c9uwe a highwr standard drvi~ki nn in
the cwow of aa~pivc having an abundance of particul atvs of a size
around one micron.
