MANaCEA4'M
RECEIVED
MAY 17 1999
DNision of Minerals 8 Geology
Enclosed is an application for a permit revision to provide for the construction of a downhill
conveyor system including a coal stockpile and reclaim system along old State Highway 133. The
permit revision will also allow production at the Bowie No. 2 Mine to increase to 5.0 million tons
per year. Following is a discussion of the materials included with this technical revision
application:
Project Summary
Coal will be conveyed from the crushing and screening building to a new coal stockpile area
located adjacent to old State Highway 133. One transfer building will be required. Coal will be
stacked in the stockpile area with the use of two concrete stacking tubes. Coal will be reclaimed
through amulti-plate reclaim tunnel and conveyed to the truck loadout bin. In order to maximize
the size of the coal stockpile area, pond B will be relocated south of the highway. Additionally,
the entrance to the property will be moved to the east.
2.03.6 Right of Entry
Bowie Resources owns the property on which the new facilities will be constructed. This
includes the land south of State Highway 133 on which pond B and the new collection
ditches will be constructed.
2.04.4 Cultural Resources
The area to be disturbed by the relocation of pond B and associated ditches was
investigated by the Grand River Institute. No cultural resources were identified.
