-iii iiiiiii~~iiu iii
sss
2.05.3(8) Coal ProceaeinR Waste And Non-Coal Processing Waste
;~:~`%~
Coal processing waste as defined under Section 1.04 C24> is
generated at the Raion Creek Mine Yine Complex. The coal processing
waste <"refuse") consists of rock, carbonaceous material, and
other high density impurities which are separated from the clean
coal product by gravity sepazation methods at the preparation
plant shown oa Yap 13, Surface Facilities. The refuse material
ie disposed of at the refuse disposal azea located in the north-
west portion of the surface facility area as shown on Map 12,
Yine Site Water Systems and Refuse Area.
To date, approzimately 165,000 cubic yards of refuse material has
been disposed of at the Bite. Based upon the projected reserve
base at the Ratnn Creek Mine Complex of 2, 800, 000 raw tone and
as expected clean coal yield of 67 percent, 933,000 tone of
refuse will be generated during the remainder of the Ru1nn Creek Mine
life. The average reiuae placement density is expected to
~~-', be 96.4 pounds per cubic loot, resulting in an additional volume
of 720,000 cubic yards. Including the reiuae disposed of to
date, the overall reiuae disposal volume will be approximately
885,000 cubic yards. '
The design volume of the refuse disposal site as shown on Yap 12,
Yine Site Water Systems and Reluee Area and Disturbed Area, Crone
Sections Al-A1' through J-J' contained in Ezhibit D is 1,337,600
cubic yards, providing plenty of ezeess capacity for additional
reserves ii sound, higher reject !actors than projected and/or
diapoeal of sediment collected in the drainage control system.
The surface area at design capacity ie 18.58 acres. The embank-
ment will have a mazimum height of 145 feet and overall aide
slopes of 3 horizontal to 1 vertical. The original Starkville
Culch drainage channel forma the base of the reiuae disposal area
and the highwall located to the north is the upper limit of
reiuae disposal.
