The LS and C factors obtained from RUSLE vers. 1.06. The RUSLE Control "C" Factor is
attached for the Division's information.
The average K factor for the three dominant soil series (Campspass, Burnette, and Work) found
on the pre-mining blocks was used for the K factor for each block selected for the success
comparison.
The control practice factor is used to account for vegetative andlor mulch cover. The support
• practice is used to account for conservation practices in the selected watershed. Colowyo
employs tillage practices such as seedbed preparation, chiseling and seeding on the contour
resulting in a roughened surface exhibiting a series of furrows oriented perpendicular to the
slope. In addition, large amounts of litter on the reclaimed surface also contribute to the
roughness features. Colowyo also employs other features, such as contour furrows, ditches,
stockponds, etc. which aid in additional erosion control well after vegetation has established.
The LS factor for the reclaim areas was also calculated using the RUSLE vers. 1.06 application.
The inputs used to calculate the factor are found in Table 11.
Table 11.
