Statistical Evaluation:
The calculation of sample adequacy for cover samples
followed methods outlined on page 15 of the Division's
Vegetation Guidelines. The statistical demonstration that
reclaimed areas matched the approved standard will be done
by Mr. Michael Savage of Savage and Savage in a separate
report.
RESULTS
j Seventeen transects were placed within five reclaimed
locations. Table 5 indicates how many samples each area
received. Reclaimed areas received between 2 and 6 samples
each. The Northern No. 1 Mine section west of the road
comprised 34.2$ of the overall 16.1 acres sampled. It
received 6 (transects 1 through 6) of the total 17 samples.
The Northern No. 1 Mine topsoil stockpile area was the
smallest location sampled (1.6 acres) and received two
samples (transects 7 and 8). Samples were also taken in the
Refuse Area topsoil stockpile area (transects 9 and 10), the
Refuse Area (transects it and 12), and the Rienau No. 2 mine
area west of Highway 13 (transects 13 through 17).
4
