FORM-RENEWAL OFA VALID, EXISTING PERMIT TO CONDUCT MINING IN
COLORADO" This last form presents the addition of the 258.1 additional Affected Area acres.
While this page may not be required for this TR, it is nevertheless, submitted for the Division's
information.
OMLLC has previously permitted gob vent borehole programs (TR 46, 48, 53 and 54) The
subject of this TR is to install four (4) additional boreholes and one more section of light use
road. One borehole (GVB-LWl l-Ola) will be added to the site already approved for GVB-
LW10-Ol and GVB-LW10-021ocated on USF51ands. New sites GVB-LW12-Ol, 02 and 03
will be located on Hotchkiss surface.
Site Construction, Operation and Reclamation
The project will be very similaz to that which had previously taken place for current borehole
sites. Overall, the sites will be accessed via the pre-existing Bear Creek canyon ranch road.
New road segments will be constructed using sidecast construction techniques, cutting and filling
as needed to achieve a typical road width of about 10 - 14 feet.
The pad sites will be approximately 80 feet wide and 130 feet long or 0.24 acres. Any salvaged
topsoil will be stockpiled adjacent to the pad. Drill fluids will be collected in mud pits.
(Approximately, 8'D x 10'W x 40'L in size)
After the borehole casing has been completely set, a skid mounted methane pump will be
installed over the well head. The pump will be operated with the methane drawn from the mine,
and any excess gas will be vented into the atmosphere.
Unless otherwise requested, the borehole will be sealed and the new roads and borehole pads
reclaimed in accordance with the procedures further described in the PAP or in accordance with
the applicable regulations.
Threatened and Endangered Species Assessment, Cultural Resources Assessment
A block ceazance cultural resources assessment titled "Class III Cultural Resources Inventory of
the Block Clearance Area Project" prepazed August 26, 2005 by Grand River Institute has
previously been submitted to DMG. This proposed GVB project will not effect any areas of
concern noted in this report.
A "Block Biological Cleazance Project" prepared in August 2005 by Monarch and Associates
covers the project area. A copy of the report has previously been forwarded to the
Borehole Completion
Each borehole will be drilled 12 '/< inch diameter to approximately 20 feet above the coal. 9 5/8
inch steel casing is cemented into the hole to approximately within 100' of the coal. 7 inch
slotted steel casing will be installed to within 10 feet above the coal. Approximately 60 - 100
feet of the slotted 7 inch pipe will be extended up or overlap into the 9 5/8 inch casing.
• Page 2
