Mined Land Reclamation Division
January 27, 1992
The same can be said with the addition of 2.30-acre-feet
into pond 4. By placing this water into these ponds,
discharges will be monitored under the existing NPDES permit
currently held by the mine.
Wyoming Fuel Company is continuing to evaluate this approach
to abate the NOV relative to the West Portal Containment
Area Number One, and may submit alternative plans that more
fully coordinate with the contemporaneous reclamation being
planned for the West Portal Area. Any changes will be
submitted to the Division in a timely manner, and Wyoming
Fuels does not anticipate that these changes will adversely
impact the abatement schedule for this NOV.
If Wyoming Fuel has not addressed the concerns of the
Division, or if the Division requires additional
information, please do not hesitate to call me at the mine
so we may correct this problem as soon as possible. If the
Division agrees with these designs, Wyoming Fuel plans to
begin earth work as soon as possible with the completion of
the sediment sumps by March 19, 1992.
Sincerely,
Ron Thompson
Mine Engineer
Enclosures
