Locations of <br />plantings are shown in detail in Figure 4.4-3. Trees will be <br />planted in strategically located clusters to provide eventual <br />visual screening of buildings, yard areas, and stockpiles. Trees <br />will also provide significant aesthetic enhancement at the site <br />itself. <br />The proposed plant palette will consist of both deciduous and <br />evergreen species. Selected species will include two species of <br />cottonwood, Russian olive, and Colorado blue spruce. These species <br />were selected for a number of reasons. First, these species are <br />adapted to the area and area used extensively in the New Castle and <br />Riverbend areas and throughout Garfield County. Also, these <br />species, especially cottonwoods and Russian olive, are fast growing <br />and will acquire desired stature in a relatively short period of <br />time. These species are not palatable to deer and elk.
