(RGI) was retained by Holnam, Inc. (Holnam) to perform a hydrogeologic
assessment of the limestone quarry area located at its Portland, Colorado facility.
1.1 Purpose and Objective
The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the potential impact of historic cement kiln dust (CI{D)
landfilling operations on the ground water at the site. The objective of the investigation was to
characterize the local hydrogeologic system at the site.
1.2 Scope of Work
The scope of work for this investigation included the following:
• Perform a literature search for information on the geology/hydrogeology of the site
• Conduct a water well survey
• Install three (3) new monitoring wells at the site, one (1) upgradient and two (2) downgradient
• Perform geologic field mapping
• Sample and analyze CKD/sludge and ground water
• Perform hydraulic conductivity testing
• Prepare a Hydrogeologic Assessment Report.
