ROBINSON
BRICK ~
COMPANY ~
~~~
~~
August 17, 2001
Mc Larry Oehler
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
RECEIVE®
AUG 2 ; zcc~
Reclamation Specialist Division of Minerals and Geology
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Permit Number: M-80-245 Hogback Mine
Technical Revision No. TR-2
Bonding Calculations (Increase in Allowable Disturbance)
Dear Mr. Oehler
Further to our phone conversation today with regard to TR-2. Robinson Brick Company
( Robco) acknowledges the need to increase the bond due to our request to increase the
maximum allowable disturbance from 23.3 acres to 56.56 acres.
As Robco indicated in our letter dated July 17, 2001, TR-2 is designed to append to TR-1
while not changing the reclamation plan approved in TR-1. The only changes proposed
in TR-2 are with regard to Staging and Allowable Disturbance.
Based on this, we have attached our proposed new bond totaling $236,538, a significant
increase from the current $54,000 bond amount. The new bond assumes that concurrent
reclamation will begin at the completion of Stage lwhen backfilling can occur as clay
mining progresses in both Stages 2 and 3.
Robco's new bond calculation indicates a maximum of 330,000 yd3 would require
backfilling and/or rehandling up and until this point of time, afrer this, concurrent
reclamation will essentially mairaair, these quantities in equilibrium.
Please call me at (303) 783-3040 if you have any questions.
Regards,
Mark S.
