S. S. Shuey - 2 - June 11, 2003
wildlife habitat. Additionally, as explained in the revised text, The 2.5H:1 V side
slopes as opposed to the previously approved 4H:1 V slopes increase the area of
the relatively flat pit floor that can be irrigated. Approximately 45-feet of
additional pit floor is developed around the perimeter of the pits. This equates to
roughly an additional 10 acres of relatively flat pit floor that can be irrigated land.
10. The text in Exhibit D was amended to explain the advancing steep face will be
reduced to a 2.5h:1 v slope when the pit is 125 feet from the centerline of the
Gurley ditch. The slope of the pit excavation immediately west of the 50 foot wide
Gurley ditch buffer zone will not be steeper than 2.5H:1 V at any time during the
mining operation.
11. A request to cut the small area out of the permit was sent to the DMG under
separate cover.
12. No response required. The Operator will respond to the DMG's bond estimate
when it becomes available.
The following data are enclosed:
Amended pages - C-1, D-2 - D-7, E-1 - E-3, G-1, G-2, H-2, H-5, & N-1.
Amended maps -Exhibits C-2 & F
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~`~~
J.
