r maximum disturbance to a range of 20-35 acres at any one time. The
general timing of reclamation for each stage will be based on the rate of
I mining for each Honing stage and the Company's ability to reclaim
/ concurrently with the mining process.
V 18. Comment: On Exkn'bit C-3, the map depicts stage 6 (35 acres). Is stage 6 associated
with Phase II or Phase III? In addition, there aze two stage 5'S in Phase
II. Please clarify this discrepancy and revise the exhibit(s) accordingly.
Response:
• Stage 6 is associated with Phase II.
• Stage 5 located north of the South Branch will be relabeled as Stage
7 in order to avoid confusion related to Phase II mining.
~19. Comment: Exhibit C-3 depicts an 8.7 acre stage duectly east of the Central
Processing Plant (noted as 8.7819 Acres Stage ?). Please indicate the
stage in which this azea will be mined. Was this azea included in the
affected acreage and total area exposing groundwater?
In addition, on the Reclamation Contours Map (Exhibit F-3) this
8.7 acre azea is depicted as a pond that will extend into the Miller Pit
azea (Permit No. M-82-034), creating a large lake. However, technical
revision 006 (TR-006) approved by the DMG on August 4, 1999
removes Lake 5 from the mining and reclamation plan (TR-006 states
azeas to remain unmined). Exhibit F-3 will need to be revised to depict
only the azea to be disturbed and reclaimed under the Lyons amendment
' and what was approved by the Division under TR-006. Please revise the
exhibit accordingly.
Response: This azea was included in the affected acreage and included in all
calculations of hydrologic impacts associated with this amendment. The
azea mayor may not be mined depending on a number of operational
and geologic considerations. If this stage is mined it will likely be mined
sometime during the Phase I mining activity.
r Regarding the Miller Pit and TR-006, WMI intends to bring the
Miller Pit into conformance with the Lyons mine plan by revising the
Miller Pit permit following approval of the Lyons amendment.
DMG Adequacy Review Response Page 7
