Wash Plant
Schmidt Construction Company is proposing to introduce a portable
washer plant at our Vollmer Pit, County Special Use Permit #AL-82-18.
The wash plant will be used to remove deleterious materials from
our native aggregate resource to better meet recent technical revisions
to ashalt mix designs. In order to use the wash plant (see detailed drawings),
we will install two one-acre ponds.
One pond will contain six acre-feet of clear water, which will be
pumped into our wash plant to remove unwanted sediments.
The other pond will be our discharge pond, collecting the reject
materials trapped in water. As these materials are directed into the
pond, the sediments will migrate to the bottom. The top portion of water
shall flow over and through the overflow chute to be recycled in the clear
O water pond. See our attached drawings.
The sediments will periodically be excavated and spread over a reclaimed
area prior to installing topsoil and seeding.
Currently, we are contemplating moving 1400 cy per day through this
system.
O
