the (released) alfalfa field. Parkerson estimates it will take approximately two years to
reclaim this area.
In our meeting on July 151, we discussed the fact that the western side slope of
(1992) mining area A will not be reclaimed until operations are near completion, as the
side slope berm is a visual screen for 32 Road, as required by Mesa County.
Additionally, the berm south of (1992) mining azea A is a visual screen for C Road. This
berm is several feet higher than the natural ground level and will screen crushing
operations. For this reason, Parkerson desires to maintain the berm at the south end of
(1992) mining area A, and will commence reclamation of this area in approximately five
years.
The overburden stockpile in (1992) Area B cannot be moved until product
stockpiles in the existing pit floor are sold and removed. Parkerson will transfer (1992)
mining area B overburden to the product stockpile area on the existing pit floor when
mining in (1992) area B is completed, and the product stockpiles are sold and removed.
The portion of the floor of (1992) mining area B that is adjacent to expansion Parcel 1
will initially be used to stage preliminary stripping and mining operations in expansion
Parcel 1, and for locating product stockpiles generated from mining expansion Parcel 1.
For these reasons, reclamation of a portion of 1992 mining azea B cannot begin in the
immediate future.
Mr. Greg Hoskin, who represents Pazkerson, has responded in writing to the State
Engineer's Office regazding the response of May 24`h, and you should have received a
copy of the letter.
Pazkerson agrees to notify the appropriate local, state and Federal authorities,
including the Division of Minerals and Geology, regazding any reportable spill of a
hazardous material at the mine site
Please contact me regarding questions you may have after you've reviewed
Pazkerson's responses to the issues you addressed in the PAR
Yours truly,
~~~~~Zvw.Q~
Milton G.
