Soils th at produce about the same kind and arount oS <br />forage, if tiie range is in similar condition, make up a range site. Each <br />" range site is the result of a particular soil-climate combination, and <br />thereforo, Will produce certain plants that are adapted to this environ- <br />ment. <br />Topogra, }wand elevation: <br />'Rre site occurs mainly on alluvial clluuvial slopes and m terraces, fans, <br />or valley positiens with slopes avera~~ing between 5 and 10 percent, but in <br />many places it occurs on steeper slopes averarinp, about 30 or Jl0 percent. <br />Elevations for this site generally range from 7,000 to 9,$00 Sect, deocnd- <br />ing to sane extent on e~cposuro, but principally on store patterns sled air <br />movements. About halt' of this <br />moisture comes as snow. <br />Potential Plant Community: <br />This range site is characterized by its Brass land aspect. Grass, in <br />association frith minor amounts of woody plants such as bi,~ sagebrush and <br />snoxberzy, slang with several skies oY Sorbs, accounts for Host of the <br />vegetative corer. This site is treeless; hor;ever, tree species are often <br />i.n the general vicinity. <br />Dominant grasses are Idaho or Arizona fescue, slender wheat, and needle <br />grasses.
