• ~;
3.3 BATCH TESTING:
(Please Hold Testing until a rove has
been issued)
SAMPLES TO BE TESTED: L396.4 - 2.0 S: L396.4 - 2:1 S
Obtain two sub-specimens from each of the tailings specimens
ileached and unleached). Use one set of sub-specimens to determine
oven dry moisture contest i (based on oven dry weight of ¢~aterial).
The second set of wet sub-specimens rill be used for batch testing.
Determine the calculated oven dry xeight of the wet sub_specimens
by using the following equation:
Ys = Yws /.(1 + IMICi ! 100)
Where: Ms = Calculated oven dry weight of soliids
Yxs = Yeight of wet specimen
M/C t = Moisture Content based on oven d~y weight
of moisture content specimen
Perform EPA Method 1312 (Synthetic precipitation leach test
for soils) using Extraction !laid il. Place the xet tailings
specimen,; in a container such that the batch test xhen m xed will
have a zero hEad space. Base the amount of solids to be us~d on the
calculated oven dry Height of the specimens.
Ail~x the solids to settle then decant and filter the leachate.
Test for the following parameters:
pB, Conductivity, Major Cations (Calcium, Magnesium, P caesium,
Sodium), Major Anfons (Alkalinity, Ammonia, Bicarbonate, C rbonate,
Chloride, Fluoride, Sulfide, Nitrate, Nitrite, Sulfate Total
Dissolved Solids, Total, :'ree sad Y.A.D. Cyanide, plus Che ollowing
dissolved metals:
Aluminum, Araeaic, Barium, Boron, Cadmium, Chromium (total),
Copper, Iron, Lead, Manganese, Mercury, Molybdenum, Nickel,
Selenium, Silvet, Ziac.
•
