Twenrymile Coal Company-FoidelC eek Mine TR04-44 TA Responses 384/2005
specific functions (green -sedimentation ponds and yellow - de-icing installations). Given
that these delineations aze not relevant for Map 23C, the shading has been eliminated.
Item 6. Map 24, Sheet 1 of 3. Please restore the notation for the solidified waste disposal
area. Indicate it as "inactive" or "historic ".
Response: The map has been revised to identify this historic use azea.
Item 7. Map 24, Sheet 1 of 3. Please change the new notation, "Refuse Haul Road (Coal
Facilities Intersection to Refuse Area Boundary)" to read "Low-Quality Coal Haul Road
(Coal Facilities Intersection to Storage Area Boundary " or, as we discussed by telephone
on January 21, 2005, extend the notation line to the refuse haul road as described, and add
a notation for the low quality stockpile haul road. In either case, both notations would be
appropriate. As we concluded that we have different versions of this map please find an
extract of this area discussed attached.
Response: Several road designations (including those referenced in Item 7) have been
modified and corrected on Map 24, in conjunction with TROS-46, to more accurately show
the locations, designations, and endpoints of specific haulroads. The revised and corrected
road delineations and designations on Map 24 (previously submitted with the supplemental
materials package) are consistent with the updated version of Map 30, Road Profiles and
Cross-Sections.
The referenced "Low-Quality Coal Haul Road" never existed as a haulroad. The subject
road was a remnant road from the prior surface coal mining operations, which was
previously used to access the designated overburden stockpile azea. Neither this road nor
the overburden stockpile area aze active or expected to be utilized in conjunction with
current mining operations. The low-quality coal stockpile now extends over the lower
portion of the old road, and coal haulage to the upper portion of the stockpile occurs within
the stockpile area. The boundary of the low-quality coal stockpile area has been modified
on Map 24 (Sheet 1 of 3) to reflect current configuration and use.
Item 8. Map 24, Sheet 1 of 3. Please add "Inactive" or "Historic" to the "Waste Rock
Refuse Disposal Area -Area 1 Pit" notation.
Response: TCC wishes to retain the option of utilizing the Area 1 Pit for its permitted use
as a waste rock/refuse disposal area, if needed at some point in the future. The Area 1 Pit
is, however, currently being utilized as a temporary water storage basin (refer to TROS-47)
in conjunction with TCC's mine water handling and recycle system. The mapped
designation for this area has been revised to indicate both current permitted uses for this
area, and the current use status.
Item 9. Map 24, Sheet I of 3. Please restore the perimeter of the coal mine waste disposal
area to thatpreviously approved.
