1999 submittal to include mine water discharge as an impact to surface water.
0. On proposed revised page 2.05-8=1, it is stored that the submittal date for the Annual
Hydrologic Report will be on or before May 30 of each year. However, the approved
sttbmittnl date is tLfarch 30, as stated on page 2.0~-78 of the permit application. Please
justify this chnnge in the sztbmittal dote.
The Division has no further concems. The operator requested, on revised page 2.05-86 of
the submittal dated May 12, 1999, that the Annual Hydrologic Report be submitted at the
same time as the Annual Subsidence Report. April 30 is satisfactory to the Division.
13. In Section 1.05.6(3)(b)(ii), on proposed revised page 2.O.i-7t5, it is stated that there will
be downstream hydrologic monitoring of the Sheep Corral, Dove and Iron Point Gulches.
Please explain why there will not be any upstream hydrologic nronitorHrg ojthese
gulches, as is the case far the hydrologic monitoring of the other gulches in the permit
area.
The Division has no further concems. The operator submitted revised page 2.0~-77,
which indicates upstream hydrologic monitoring points are located in Sheep Corral and
Dove Gulches. Iron Point Gulch does appear to be too far north of mining to justify an
upstream monitoring station.
i 9. On proposed revised page 2.0=1-3t5, it is slated that the source of water for [he Fire
Mountain Canal is the North Fork of the Gunnison. However, field inspection shows that
overflotiv water from the Deer Trail Ditch flows into the Fire Mountain Canal, at the
point where the Terror Creek Londotct extracts its venter from the Deer Trail Ditch. Also,
field inspection shows that some surface runofffrom areas above the Fire Mountain
Canal can enter the canal. Ifyou agree, please revise page 2.Od-36 to reflec! this.
The Division has no further concems. Pages 2.04-36 and 2.04-37 were revised in the
submittal dated May 12, 1999 to reflect the situation of the ditches in the field.
20. Since the Fire Mountain Canal receives overflow venter from the Deer Trail Ditch, there
is a possibility that the water in the Fire Mountain Canal could be affected by mining
operations. The Division believes that there should be upper and lower hydrologic
monitoring stations for the Fire Mountain Canal. Please propose two such monitoring
station locations, or explain tie•hy Bowie does not believe it is necessary !o monitor the
Fire Mountain Canal water.
The Division has no further concems. BRL will have one upstream monitoring station
and one downstream monitoring station on the Fire Mountain Canal. Text pages 2.05-77,
2.05-79 and Map 9 were revised accordingly in the submittal dated May 12, 1999.
21. On proposed revised page 2.05-I, it is stated that the maximum anticipated production is
15
