Agreed. Certified noxious weed free mulch will be utilized wh re available
subsequent to DMG approval of this submittal. If unavailable, the i rcumstances
and alternatives will be discussed with DMG prior to implementatio Live litter
cover utilizing sterile hybrids has been accepted in lieu of mulch by h e DMG.
TREE AND SHRUB ESTABLISHMENT
The application proposes a planting density of 240 trees per acre w t h additional
shrub seeding to occur in concert with this activity. The trees prop sed for this
activity are ponderosa pine, pinon pine, and Rocky Mt. juniper. he division
proposes that some additional bare root or containerized shrubs be in luded in the
240 trees per acre such as chokecherry, skunkbush sumac a d mountain
mahogany. In addition, some limited irrigation of these transpl nted species
during the first growing season, especially during initial transplan ation, along
with the use of polyacrylamide should increase survivability.
Live root shrubs depending upon availability from the Colorado Fo est Service
will be substituted for no less than 25% and no more than 50% of the planned
total per acre for trees. Shrubs so planted will reduce the planting f trees one
for one.
GRASS SPECIES REVEGETAT[ON MIX
The proposed grass species list is acceptable with the exception of the cool season
mix which seems to be heavy on the crested wheatgrass and smooth brome. A
suggestion would be to reduce both of these species to less than ] 0% each of the
total mix and substitute with mountain brome, bluebunch or thickspike
wheatgrass, and Indian ricegrass.
Smooth brome and Crested wheatgrass [Ephram] will be retained t 5% each.
Mountain brome and Indian ricegrass will be substituted for Crested wheatgrass
[Lincoln and Ephram~ at 15% each. The updated mixture will be pro ided at the
time of submittal of the revised survey based map.
If sumac, chokecherry and mt. mahogany are not utilized as bare root transplants,
they should be added to the shrub mixture.
Agreed. Any changes not otherwise shown will be updated at the ime of the
submittal of the revised survey based map.
EXHIBIT F -RECLAMATION PLAN MAP
Correspondence of Monday 18 May 1997 to Tony Waldron, Colorado Division of M~ erals and
Geology from Bradford Janes, for Doug Bachli, Rocky Road Quarry, DMG Permit 85-210.
5
