`the road on the west side of the ridge will be shown on the revised ap resulting
Ifrom physical survey of the site.
TIMETABLES
In order to accurately calculate the reclamation bond it is essential to define an
exact maximum area that will be affected at any given time. The ffected land
will include reclaimed lands that have not been fully released frorn reclamation
liability, all active mining areas, and all roads, cutting areas, stora,g areas, etc.,
essential to the operation of the mine. Once it is determined how lar e of an area
this will be, the entire affected area shall not exceed this size limitati n unless the
permit is revised and the reclamation bond is increased to compe sate for this
increase, or an area equal to the expansion has been fully released o any further
reclamation liability.
We respectively request the Division set financial warranty for 5 acres, or
approximately 50% of the total area designated for extraction. At th time of the
physical survey, a revised map will be submitted to the Division a d the exact
nature and extent of responsibility for each area, and adjustments to t e total area
will be submitted by Technical Revision. The revisions should no require an
Amendment since they will not change the intcndcd reclamation pla or manner
or method of mining. This is in tact the purpose of the GRID ystem, and
subsequent adjustments should be allowable as a function of the req uired DMG
Annual Report, and not via the Technical Revision process. The i itial change
should occur through Technical Revision since substantial discussion f the nature
and character of the existing disturbance will be discussed relative o finalizing
the initial considerations for financial warranty.
Since the grid system of identification will be implemented as a re ult of this
conversion, all currently affected areas should be identified by both t e AL, ML,
PL, or UL parcel along with the appropriate grid sector (i.e.: PL-8 ( uadrant B-
5)). This will aid in the transition to the grid system.
The old areas of disturbance as defined, will have their actual acreage confirmed
by physical survey and placement of survey established GRIDS, whit will vary
from the original submittal, but once established by survey, will not c ange. All
new disturbance will then be referenced to its GRID, and may includ reference
to the older areas where determining financial warranty liability.
PERMIT BOUNDARY MAINTENANCE
Correspondence of Monday ]8 May 1997 to Tony Waldron, Colorado Division of N1i erals and
Geology from Bradford Janes, for Doug Bachli, Rocky Road Quarry, DMG Permit 85-210.
3
